Conquering the crisis we can’t see
This powerful video was made by the American Emmy award-winning film director Richard Wolf. Richard has made films for 60 Minutes, as well as the United Nations. He directs documentaries on humanitarian stories from around the world. www.lobodocs.com Please take a look, like and pass the link on.
Thanks Richard for your support. This is what he had to say about our work:
“In the many, many refugee camps I have been to, I felt deeply not only the trauma but the lack of organizations addressing it, so Beyond Conflict has a very, very important mission. It is a pleasure to help, and also a moral obligation – we have such privileged lives (of course we always complain) and it is paramount to give back.”
The video is set to music taken from The Cry: A Requiem for the Lost Child, which was written by British composer Adrian Snell. Adrian wrote The Cry in memory of children around the world who have lost their lives in conflict. Adrian explains here why he wrote The Cry, which will be played at a concert on 28 September 2018 at Windsor Parish Church in aid of Beyond Conflict:
“So far this century, about three quarters of a million children have been killed in wars and other armed conflicts. As well as the death toll, in the last eight years over two million children have been disabled and millions more have been traumatised.”
“For many…the only way of survival is to become what they have seen and experienced: men and women of hate. We ignore this reality at our peril.”
Thanks Adrian for your music and words; they are as good a description as any of why Beyond Conflict was formed: to tackle the unseen psychological suffering of civilians from conflict, terrorism and displacement. We believe there can be no lasting peace without addressing the psychological fallout of conflict trauma among civilians and children in particular.
Lastly, thanks to our web designer Connie Bruin of Westgate Communications for the design and images in the video. www.westgatecomms.com. Please support our video and if you can buy a ticket to our concert in Windsor and hear The Cry for yourself. Also, please donate now.
