Beyond Conflict wins 2024 Best Mental Health Charity

Beyond Conflict has been awarded Best UK Mental Health Charity for Victims of War in Acquisition International’s 2024  Non-Profit Organisation Awards which were publicly announced on 11 July. The prize marks our first major award since we were formed in January 2018.

Acquisition International said in its press release:

“Our communities are the very backbone of today’s world and this year’s awardees have truly demonstrated their dedication towards supporting a plethora of communities — large and small. Our winners act as a buttress for many. Of course, plenty of us feel like we have to do it alone but, with the help of these extraordinary organisations and the individuals who make them all possible,  we never have to walk alone again.”

Beyond Conflict Chair Ed Newell said:

“Thank you for this award on behalf of the Beyond Conflict team. For those of us who’ve never experienced warfare first-hand, it’s impossible to understand the impact it has on the mental health of ordinary people living with conflict, especially children. That’s why this prize is so important to us as it will help raise awareness on this important issue.”

Co-Founder and Executive Director Edna Fernandes said:

“Thank you Acquisition International for this amazing recognition of Beyond Conflict’s work. It is an honour to be amongst so many worthy winning charities. This prize represents an opportunity to spread the word about the need for mental health support for victims of war. The psychological damage wrought by war can last for generations unless addressed. Our charity is about delivering support to those who need it; healing minds and restoring hope.”

The Acquisition International awards return for the fourth year and are open to charities from around the world. The research and judging team said each nominee was assessed on its merits.
